General Conference

I look back on last week with mixed feelings... We had a lot of people cancel on us in the last minute and/or change the appointment on short notice. This caused us to have to change plans on the fly and try to figure out how to still be able to meet up with these people as they really need our message and everything we can offer. Sometimes it is sad when people don't realize or even when they realize what they reject. The life of a missionary in the footsteps of Paul can be tough...
Jacob (whom we're teaching) and Elder Reading at church

On the other hand we had some wonderful experiences with one of our investigators, Canada (it's a nickname xD). He is a great kid and is doing very well. He is a friend of one of the members in the branch and from the same country. He has met with us and is generally very reliable. Also, he came to both the baptism of Harry (a Greek investigator from the other branch) and to all the sessions of General Conference we watched (One on Saturday and two on Sunday), including Priesthood session. It was really wonderful to see him willingly come and without us having to trick or drag him there xD...

I'm sure he benefited from these words of the prophet and apostles. It is truly a privilege to have living prophets and apostles on the earth today that can share the will of God to us in this our day. I surely enjoyed that instruction thoroughly!

We've been working hard and it is wonderful to see some response from people as you try to teach an help them. We also had some great lessons with members and there are truly some gems among the members. This includes our most recent member, Richard. He was baptized the previous weekend and he's already progressing wonderfully. We spoke about members doing missionary work. At first he was nervous that he wouldn't know all the answers to questions people would ask him. When we explained him that would would help him and teach him and that he needed only to invite not to teach, he became very eager to help. He already invited a friend to learn from us the missionaries and I'm sure he'll continue to invite. The members are maybe young in their knowledge of the gospel but they have a passion for it and truly desire to do what is right. It is a wonderful blessing to serve these people here in Greece, Athens. I'm sure that this is what Paul must have felt like as he served these very same people and wrote to them. This is what it must be to walk in the footsteps of Paul...
